Our policies and reports
At Berinba Public School, our policies and reports play an important role in helping families understand how our school works and how we support every child to learn and grow. We want our community to feel informed, connected and confident in the way our school operates.
Our Annual Report and School Plan provide a clear picture of what we’ve achieved, where we are heading and the ongoing improvements we are making each year to strengthen student learning and wellbeing. These documents reflect our commitment to openness, high expectations and continuous growth.
Our school procedures outline the shared practices that guide our daily work together, in line with our school vision. They cover important areas such as attendance, absences, positive behaviour, and the way we respond to questions or concerns raised by families. These policies help us build a calm, consistent and caring environment where students feel known, valued and supported.
By working in partnership with our families and being clear about how our school operates, we can create the strong foundations that allow every student at Berinba to flourish.
Annual school report
Each year, we share our progress in the annual school report. It gives families a clear picture of how our school is performing and how we’re supporting every student’s success. The report reflects our commitment to openness, accountability and continuous improvement.
The report includes:
- what we’re doing well and where we’re improving
- student achievement and academic progress
- our school vision and goals
- key highlights and milestones
- challenges we’ve faced and how we’re addressing them.
School excellence plan
Our school excellence plan (SEP) is a working document that shows our priorities in learning, teaching and leading. It explains our focus areas for improvement and how we plan to get there. We write our SEP with help from our school community so it reflects our shared priorities.
Aboriginal Education
At Berinba Public School, we acknowledge and respect the Traditional Custodians of the land on which our school stands. We recognise the deep history, culture, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and are committed to fostering a learning environment that values and celebrates Indigenous knowledge and perspectives.
Through culturally inclusive education, we aim to build understanding, respect, and reconciliation. Our curriculum integrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, languages, and cultures, ensuring that all students develop a deep appreciation of Australia's First Nations peoples. We also work closely with local Aboriginal Elders, community members, and educators to enrich learning experiences and support the aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
At Berinba Public School, we are dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive school community where Indigenous students feel a strong sense of belonging and where all students gain a meaningful connection to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and perspectives.
Anti-Racism
At Berinba Public school, we are committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where diversity is valued, and all members of our school community are treated with dignity. We recognise that racism in any form has no place in our school, and we actively work hard to challenge discrimination and prejudice.
Through education and open dialogue, we empower our students and staff to stand against racism and promote equality. Our curriculum incorporates diverse perspectives, histories, and experiences to build understanding and empathy among students. We encourage respectful conversations and provide support to those affected by racism.

Through cultural celebrations, inclusive teaching practices, and community engagement, we encourage students to appreciate and respect different cultures while developing a strong sense of identity and belonging.
Learning Dispositions
At Berinba Public School, we believe that developing positive learning dispositions is just as important as acquiring academic knowledge. Our school focuses on cultivating a set of essential attitudes, values and behaviours, in line with our school values of caring, sharing annd achieving. Helping students thrive both academically and personally. These learning dispositions are key to becoming engaged, curious and motivated learners who take responsibility for their own growth and contribute positively to their learning community.
Gifted and Talented Education
At Berinba Public School, we are dedicated to fostering the intellectual, creative, and personal growth of gifted and talented students. Our mission is to provide a challenging and enriching educational environment that nurtures curiosity, encourages critical thinking, and cultivates a lifelong passion for learning.
We recognise that gifted learners require differentiated instruction that goes beyond the traditional curriculum, offering depth, complexity, and opportunities for independent exploration. Through an innovative and student centred approach, we provide a dynamic learning experience that integrates advanced academics, problem-solving, and creative expression. Our school embraces a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and emotional well-being. We support students in developing resilience, leadership skills, and a strong sense of social responsibility.
Student Leadership
At Berinba Public School, we believe that student leadership plays a vital role in fostering responsibility, confidence, and a sense of community among our students. We are committed to providing opportunities for students to develop their leadership skills, contribute to school decision-making, and become positive role models for their peers.
Our student leadership program encourages active participation in school life, promoting values such as respect, teamwork, and responsibility. Through roles such as school captains, house leaders, student council representatives, and peer mentors, students learn to communicate effectively, solve problems, and collaborate with others.
We empower our student leaders to take initiative, organise events, represent student voices, and assist in creating a safe and inclusive school environment. By nurturing leadership skills at a young age, we help students build confidence and prepare them for future responsibilities both inside and outside the school community.
At Berinba Public School, we believe every student has the potential to be a leader, and we encourage all students to take on challenges, support one another, and make a meaningful impact in our school.
School behaviour support and management plan
Our school has a school behaviour support and management plan. This plan helps us create a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment for all students. It sets clear expectations for student behaviour. This includes how we respond to bullying and cyberbullying. We work together with our school community to shape the plan and review it each year.
