Student Leadership

At Berinba Public School, we are committed to nurturing confident, responsible, and compassionate young leaders.

Our Student Leadership Programs provide opportunities for students to take on meaningful roles within our school community, helping them to develop essential life skills such as communication, teamwork, empathy, and decision-making.

We believe that leadership is not about titles, but about action and attitude.

Through various leadership roles  including School Captains, Vice Captains, House Leaders, and Student Representative Council (SRC) members  students are empowered to represent their peers, contribute and collaborate their ideas, and take initiative in shaping our positive and inclusive school culture.

Student leaders are involved in a wide range of activities throughout the year. These include leading school assemblies, organising fundraising events, representing our school at community events and special programs, supporting younger students, promoting school values, and helping with daily responsibilities across the school. They also act as role models, demonstrating respect, responsibility, and integrity in all they do.

Our leadership program encourages all students to find their voice, contribute meaningfully, and take pride in their school. Whether through formal positions or everyday actions, we believe every student can be a leader. By fostering these skills from an early age, we aim to prepare our students not only to lead at school, but also to grow into thoughtful, active citizens in the wider community.

School Captains

School Captains represent the student voice and help shape the culture of our Berinba Flight. They encourage others through their actions, welcome and include all students, and contribute to a safe, respectful and vibrant learning environment. Captains communicate clearly, show initiative, and willingly take on responsibilities that support whole-school events, assemblies, and community connections.

Most importantly, our School Captains lead with heart. They lift others up, celebrate the strengths of their peers, and reflect the pride we all share in being part of Berinba Public School.

School Vice-Captains

Vice Captains support the School Captains and leadership team by helping represent the school at events, welcoming visitors, and contributing to whole-school initiatives. They are reliable, respectful, and ready to step forward when needed—always uplifting others and strengthening our school community.

They listen deeply, act responsibly, and approach challenges with courage and optimism. As role models for their peers, our Vice Captains show what leadership looks like through everyday actions: being inclusive, encouraging others, and helping create a safe, supportive environment where every student feels they belong.

School Sports Captains and Vice Captains

Our Sports Captains and Vice Captains play a key role in promoting teamwork, school spirit, and healthy, active lifestyles across our school. They lead by example showing fairness, encouragement, and determination in everything they do.

These leaders support staff during sporting events, carnivals and team activities, help organise equipment, and motivate their peers to do their best. They champion good sportsmanship, celebrate effort and improvement, and ensure everyone feels included and supported.

With a positive attitude and a strong sense of responsibility, our Sports Captains and Vice Captains help make sport a fun, safe and inspiring part of school life for every student.

Student Representative Council (SRC)

Our SRC student representatives are proud leaders who help amplify student voice at Berinba Public School. They demonstrate kindness, integrity, and courage in their daily interactions and play an important role in creating a school where every student feels heard, valued, and included.

SRC representatives work as part of the leadership team to support initiatives that strengthen our Berinba Flight. They help lead discussions, share ideas, listen to the concerns of their peers, and communicate these respectfully to staff. They model what it means to be responsible, community-minded leaders who lift others up.

Deadly Leaders

Deadly Leaders proudly represent the strength, culture, and voice of our Aboriginal students. These leaders walk with confidence and cultural pride, honouring the stories, knowledge, and traditions of the communities they belong to.

They help shape a school where every student feels a deep sense of belonging where culture is celebrated, identity is valued, and learning is connected to Country and community.

Our Deadly Leaders stand as role models across the school. They lead with heart, humility, and courage, support younger students, contribute ideas that strengthen our cultural programs, and champion respectful relationships for all.

Through their leadership, they help weave culture into the everyday life of Berinba.
