Wellbeing
At Berinba Public School, student wellbeing and learning are woven together in everything we do. We believe that when children feel safe, valued and supported, they are ready to take brave steps in their learning and grow with confidence. Our whole school community students, staff and families plays a role in nurturing this sense of belonging.
Every child arrives at school carrying their own story, strengths and needs. Whether your child requires support with their mental, emotional, social, or physical wellbeing, our team is here to walk alongside them. Through caring relationships, consistent routines, and a culture of mutual respect, we work together to help every learner feel settled, understood and ready to engage.
Guided by our Student and Family Code of Conduct, we partner closely with families to build strong connections and shared expectations. This helps us create a calm, welcoming environment where children can be themselves, ask for help when they need it and celebrate their achievements big and small.
At Berinba, we don’t wait for a formal diagnosis to start supporting a child. If a student needs adjustments, encouragement or additional guidance at any stage of their school journey, we wrap support around them early so they can thrive not only in the classroom, but in daily life. Our goal is simple: every child known, valued and cared for, every day.
Together, we’re building a school where kindness, inclusion and high expectations sit side by side ensuring every student is ready to learn, ready to grow and ready to shine.
How we support student wellbeing
At Berinba Public School, wellbeing begins with relationships. We believe that every interaction is an opportunity to build trust, connection and belonging. Our staff take the time to know each child deeply their strengths, their story, and what helps them feel safe and understood. This relational approach sits at the centre of everything we do.
We use restorative practices to guide how we support students, resolve conflict and strengthen our school community. When challenges arise, we work with students rather than for or to them. We listen first, hold space for their voice, and help them repair relationships, restore confidence and build the skills they need to move forward with courage.
Our relational and restorative approach includes:
- warm, predictable relationships with teachers who genuinely care
- conversations that focus on understanding the story behind behaviour
- restorative chats, circles and opportunities to repair harm
- calm, consistent responses that promote dignity and emotional safety
- partnerships with families built on open communication and trust
- inclusive supports for students with disability or additional needs
- staff who model empathy, respect and positive problem-solving
We believe wellbeing grows when students feel connected, seen and heard. At Berinba, every child is supported to build strong relationships, develop resilience, and confidently take their place in our caring school community.
