Families do not need a formal diagnosis for their child to access support in our mainstream setting. Learning Support Programs
At Berinba Public School, we recognise that every child learns differently. Our Learning Support Programs provide targeted, individualised support for students who require additional assistance with their learning, development, communication, social skills or wellbeing.
Our dedicated Learning and Support Team works alongside classroom teachers, School Learning Support Officers, families and external specialists to identify individual needs and ensure students receive the right support at the right time.
Our approach includes:
- Targeted Literacy and Numeracy Support: Small-group and individual interventions that strengthen foundational skills, address learning gaps and build confidence.
- Personalised Learning Plans: Individual learning goals, differentiated teaching and reasonable adjustments tailored to each student's strengths and additional learning needs.

Multicategorical Special Education Classes at Berinba
At Berinba Public School, we are proud to offer three Multicategorical Special Education Classes, providing specialised educational opportunities for students with additional learning and support needs. We believe every child deserves to feel known, valued and cared for, with access to an education that celebrates their individuality, recognises their strengths and supports them to reach their full potential.
Our specialist classes provide nurturing, structured and inclusive learning environments where students benefit from smaller class sizes, individualised teaching, targeted interventions and additional support. We recognise that every learner is unique, and our approach is designed to respond to a diverse range of learning, developmental, communication, sensory, social, emotional and physical needs.
Our dedicated specialist teachers and School Learning Support Officers work collaboratively to deliver high-quality teaching, personalised learning programs and adjustments that support each student's individual goals. We place a strong emphasis on developing essential literacy and numeracy skills alongside communication, emotional regulation, social connections, independence and the practical skills that empower students to participate confidently in everyday life.
Inclusion and belonging are at the heart of our approach. Our Multicategorical Special Education Classes are an integral part of the wider Berinba school community. Students are supported to build meaningful friendships, participate in whole-school activities and access learning experiences alongside their peers, with opportunities for integration into mainstream classrooms where appropriate to their individual learning and support needs.
